Sean Boswell, who has always been an outsider. A loner at school, his only connection to the indifferent world around him is through illegal street racing – which has made him particularly unpopular with the local authorities. To avoid jail time, Sean is sent out of the country to live with his Farther in the military, in a cramped apartment in a low-rent section of Tokyo. In the land that gave birth to the majority of modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by the ultimate pedal-to-the-metal, gravity-defying automotive challenge … drift racing, a deadly combination of brutal speed on heart stopping courses of hairpin turns and switchbacks. For his first unsuccessful foray in drift racing, Shean unknowingly takes on D.K., the "Drift King," with ties to the Yakuza, the Japanese crime machine. The only way he can pay off the debt of his loss is to venture into the deadly realm of the Tokyo underworld, where the stakes are life and death. Sean Boswell, an Alabama teenager with a record for street racing, moves to his father's resident city of Tokyo, Japan to avoid a prison sentence in America. Boswell quickly falls in love with the world of drift racing in Tokyo's underground and a Japanese girl named Neela. However, Boswell's presence and growing talent for drifting unsettles the Japanese Mafia, which makes thousands of dollars from the sport. Confrontations arise, and Sean is faced with a simple decision: drift or die. i saw fast and the furious 2 and was really disappointed. when this movie got released i was thinking that it would also be a piece of crap..<br/><br/>but i was totally wrong, the film is very well executed. the action scenes were really superb. the story was a little complicated as. why the hell did Hans gave his car's keys to the lead..? he didn't knew him or else. i could not understand that. <br/><br/>the cars used in the movie was too good as i love Nissan 350z and skyline GTR. yeah the lead is very bad he doesn't know how to act or deliver dialouges he is just awful..he is shown as a 17 year boy in the movie but he looks like 35..lol<br/><br/>if you a car movie fans than this is your ultimate choice.. go enjoy the movie.. If you liked either of the previous Fast and Furious movies, see this movie. If you like cars, see this movie. If you like hot girls, see this movie. I'll grant that the plot isn't super intensive, but the mix of plot intertwined with action was great. I think that the 2 Fast 2 Furious plot of 'cops and drugs' has been used a little too much, and yet that movie still had redeeming features. I don't know why there is so many people who think it wasn't worth the money. Lets face it. There are VERY few movies that have: great plots, Awesome action, and very hot chicks. I watch movies a lot and i have only seen - at most - 5 movies that have the above content. It also depends on the viewer and their preferences. If your confused about whether you want to see Tokyo Drift or not, my advice is to ignore what anybody says about it and to just go and watch it for yourself and decide whether it was or wasn't worth it. Racing junkies would be better off browsing the myriad of online drifting videos where the camera doesn't cut and the people don't speak. The screenplay for Tokyo Drift was written by American screenwriter Chris Morgan. The Fast and Furious franchise is loosely based on a May, 1998 Vibe magazine article about illegal street racing, "Racer X", by Ken Li. The only one returning is Dominic Toretto (<a href="/name/nm0004874/">Vin Diesel</a>) in a cameo at the end of the film. All of the other characters are new. 'Drift' refers to the sliding motion that a car takes when it races around a corner. In 'drift racing', the object is to drift while controlling the car during the slide. Paint is forced from the paint guns using a compressed air feed, which usually just blows cold air (there is no point in pre-heating paint since the car will be 'baked' in an oven to set the paint finish). It's possible the paint could be so cold as to be uncomfortable when coming into contact with bare skin, though it's more likely the boy's discomfort is simply due to the bullying to which he is being subjected. Twinkie (<a href="/name/nm0510168/">Shad Moss</a>) drives a green 2004 Volkswagen Touran. In order to make peace with Uncle Kamata (<a href="/name/nm0002002/">Shin'ichi Chiba</a>), Sean proposes a race between him and DK with the loser agreeing to leave Tokyo. Sean puts the engine from Han's smashed up Nissan Silvia into his father's 1967 Ford Mustang GT, and DK picks the route, a winding mountain road on which he's the only one to ever make it down. The race begins, and DK immediately pulls in front but, during a near crash, Sean manages to take over the lead. DK tries to force Sean's car off the road, but Sean hangs in there, switching leads a number of times until DK's car suddenly flips over and plunges down an embankment, almost landing on top of Sean's car. When it is clear that Sean is the winner, Kamata tells him that he is free to go. Some time later, Sean has been named the new 'Drift King.' Twinkie informs him that a friend of Han's wants to race him, and Sean agrees. The challenger drives up and a silver 1970 Plymouth Satellite and is revealed to be none other than Dom Torretto. Sean compliments his ride and informs him that it's not a 10 second race to which Dom replies, 'I got nothin' but time,.'
